What In the World? You Decide Edition

Welcome to What In The World?, a weekly feature on my blog where I post a photo that I found ridiculous, hilarious, or just made me scratch my head. Sometimes the object of my blogging has the amazing skill of doing all the above!

As I do research for my What In The World? features, I find images that are beyond explanation. What does that mean? I couldn’t come up with the perfect snark or correct clever witticism to describe the photo. A couple of weeks ago, my friend Kelly sent me this week’s photo, and I mulled over it since. Still I have nothing.

So now friends, this is where you come in. Take this photo and tell me what in the world you think it is. Tell me something that describes it. Give me a storyline. Or say something completely, utterly and totally random that makes no sense at all. Let’s entertain each other! Anyway, here is the object of my blog and a couple of my first impressions.

What is this? You tell me.

What is this? You tell me.

So, what exactly do I think this is? My first reactions were…

“This was the least appealing orange known to man.”
“Froggy has a new friend, and its orange.”

Can you come up with something better? By all means, please do, and let us know by responding in the comments!

What In The World? RV Edition

Welcome to this week’s What In The World, where the subject is camping. Some people love it, though I have absolutely no idea why. I like nature, but please give me a bed to sleep in.

A good alternative for those of us who prefer not to sleep on the the ground and leave the comforts of home is to utilize a recreational vehicle, aka RV, which is basically a studio apartment on wheels. Some RVS are pretty tricked out while others are purely functional. What I am trying to decide is the function this particular RV plays.

Is this one for duck hunts? Does it have webbed feet and float in the water? Cause it makes me want to start quacking.

Any thoughts or ridicules on this particular design of oddness?

What In the World? The Fry Holder

Welcome to What In The World?, a new weekly feature on my blog where I post a photo that I found ridiculous, hilarious, or just made me scratch my head. Sometimes the object of my bloggig has the amazing skill of doing all the above!

We Americans are addicted to convenience. We survive on food that is fast and easy to access. We often will go through a drive-thru window to access that food we think we so desperately must have right now!

A stable of a typical fast food meal would be french fries. Seriously, I am fan and if I was less disciplined, I would probably scarf down this starchy, salty, fatty pretend food every day. While they are easy to purchase thanks to the all-too convenient drive-thru window, they are less easy to consume. What exactly is the problem we Americans have with accessing that hot, delicious, and artery-clogging treat? It is hard to hold fries, eat them, and drive all at once.

Well, my friends, no more! Some clever person has solved that problem! Introducing…. the fry cup holder adjustment!

Oy vey.

Oy vey.

As if we need another reason to encourage obesity in America! Or, you can just do what I do…. dump them in the bag and scrounge.

Any thoughts or inventions on this decidedly unique contraption?

What In The World? Some Food Combos Just Don’t Go Together

Welcome to What In The World?, a new weekly feature on my blog where I post a photo that I found ridiculous, hilarious, or just made me scratch my head. This week? I was traumatized. You will see why shortly.

Bacon? There’s nothing quite like a delicious, crispy piece of porker melting in your mouth. It is by far one of my favorite breakfast foods. Pair it with eggs and hash browns, and I have a slice greasy, high fat, high calorie heaven.

Another food I have a storng affinity for is peanut butter. It is a very simple food staple of mine, and goes with both sweet and salty food matches. It is equally amazing with pickles as it is with an apple, banana, honey, apple butter, or any other jam or spread you could imagine. Peanut butter not only has  versatility, but portability in its favor as well. I am able to take a spoonful when I need some quick protein and within a few minutes it has sustained my energy level. Therefore, peanut butter is a superior food in my book.

Then there is the delectible cupcake. The best variety is chocolate. Nothing like having a warm, fluffy, frosted baked item as a desert! And the fabulous thing about frosting is you there are many varieties!! Perhaps one of the best pairings with chocolate is peanut butter. Henry Burnett Reese made my favorite double-threat treat: The Peanut Butter Cup. So let say we have a peanut buttecream frosting on a chocolare cupcake. Doesn’t that sound fabulous?

So I have mentioned three foods. Some of them go together very well, and some don’t. So what happens when you put the three together? I’d imagine you’d get one of the worst culinary abominations known to man.

Intoducing….

The Chocolate Peanut Butter Bacon Cupcake!!

Just. Plain. Wrong.

When I found this baked good bad in Google images, I was speechless. Seriously though, what could I say? This may be one of the most disgusting, throw-up-in-my-mouth combinations I have encountered in a long time. I mean, why? When is it ever a good idea to slap a piece of bacon on top of a chocolate cupcake? The right answer is never.

What In the World? The Flying Hat

Welcome to What In The World? where I feature a photo I found online that is hilarious, ridiculous, makes me scratch my head, or does all of the above. You can view previous What In The World features by clicking on What ion the World over there on the right. I think I have said What in the World? far too much now for one paragraph, so on to the photo!

Spring. I discussed the virutes of spring in my previous feature (not the VLOG) Spring is a time that brings people out of heavy winter clothing, and also seems to be a time of renewal. Also, a time of fashion experimentation.

Do you think the designer was experimenting with flight school when this hat was designed?

Also? If this had had been worn on Easter Sunday (a day where flamboyant hats are typically worn) do you think the songleader would have felt compelled to randomly lead the congregation in the singing of the hymn “I’ll Fly Away?”

And lastly, why is she holding her gloved finger to her nose? Is she being coy? Or do the spring flowers actually smell bad?

What do you think? We await your response.

What In The World The Picnic Dress

The snow has melted. The weather is warmer. The grass is green, birds are chirping, and the air is filled with the scent of flowers.

Spring is here!

One of the fine traditions of spring is the picnic. What better way to celebrate the broken binds of winter than to enjoy the rebirth of creation by having a meal outdoors? So we pack our basket with the essential items, and off we go to the park. Once we arrive, we discover we are not the only ones with the idea. A young woman eating a loaf of bread is sitting in front of us and… what is this cloth…

It’s a dress!

It’s a picnic blanket!

No, wait, its…..

The Picnic Dress!!!

Why carry a blanket when everyone else can sit on your dress? But seriously, I have a few problems with this. For one, grass on bare skin is is itchy so the experience of spreading the skirt out than sitting would be unpleasant. If people sit on the skirt, you have no mobility. And seriously, who would want to wear this anyway? Dude, I am pretty sure that I would have to drink that whole bottle of red wine she is holding before I would agree to wear this dress.

Any thoughts, comments, or insults? By all means, respond to this post!

What In The World? Pitney Bowes Style

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — Emily @ 9:23 am

Welcome to What In The World?, a new weekly feature on my blog where I post a photo that I found ridiculous, hilarious, or just made me scratch my head. This first photo has the magnificent skill of doing all the above!

This is a vintage advertisement from my employer, Pitney Bowes. They are employing a very unique advertising scheme. Observe:

What? Having your wife or secretary missing the mail is an offense worthy of death? What logic are they even trying to employ? “Buy a postage meter so she’ll git ‘er done faster!”

Any thoughts?
